Honda Australia has secured a record for new-vehicle sales in June 2018, with 7,013 vehicles sold across the country.
The June 2018 result, a 34% increase year on year, was driven by Honda’s highly popular SUV line-up of CR-V and HR-V.
“June was a milestone result for the Honda team, driven by a great range of SUVs and passenger cars that our customers are really engaging with. What makes this result even stronger is that we are selling the vast majority of our vehicles to private customers, not fleets and rental. We have had a really strong first half of 2018 with a total of 29,301 sales, so we are well on track to exceed 50,000 sales once again,” said Mr. Stephen Collins, Director, Honda Australia.
“Honda’s unique DNA has being woven into our revitalised range of SUVs and passenger cars that are designed and built around world-class engineering, functionality and reliability. The fact that we are able to deliver strong product with great value is driving our success,” said Mr. Collins.
Leading the charge for Honda is CR-V, with 2,232 new vehicles delivered around Australia in June. The second-biggest sales results for CR-V was in August 2000 with a monthly result of 2,108. “CR-V is flying, we truly believe there’s no SUV on the market that delivers a better overall package for customers, and with the recent launch of the new limited edition CR-V +Sport it gets even better. We’ve got more exciting new announcements coming for CR-V later in the year as well,” said Mr Collins.
CR-V is packed full of features, space and technology all in an affordable price for Australian families. With the choice of five or seven seats across a five-grade line-up, CR-V is known for its comfort, quality, spaciousness and stylish design. Equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 90 degree opening doors plus a raft of passive and active safety systems including Honda Sensing on the VTi-LX grade, CR-V continues to be an industry benchmark.
Also achieving a record result for Honda in June in the small SUV segment, HR-V achieved 1,760 sales for the month. The previous record for HR-V was reached in June 2016 with 1,696 vehicles sold.
Currently in run-out, HR-V delivers an ideal balance of space, style and versatility. Equipped with Honda’s renowned magic seats and a spacious interior thanks to Honda’s clever packaging, HR-V has been a consistent performer for the brand since its arrival in 2015.
Honda’s HR-V has in turn earned a reputation as Australia’s most versatile Small SUV, by delivering an unsurpassed combination of interior flexibility, space, and storage. A refreshed HR-V line-up is due for arrival in August with a new grade addition of the sporty RS and standard AEB to the refreshed HR-V line-up.
The record sales result was rounded out by the Civic range across hatch and sedan which both sold well in June with total sales of 1,750 within the small car segment, with private buyers again driving the result.
